Misc. Monday!

First off, let me just say, " Hi, Mom!"...She told me she was sick of reading about the Southern Living Dream house on my blog. Please, as if you could get sick of that house.
I thought I'd do a little Misc Monday link up. Cheers to Monday!

1. This was the first weekend we've had "just us two" in probably 2 months. We have love love loved all our visitors and trips but it has been so nice to just sit. relax. clean and regroup. I got caught up on all the sleep I needed ( by taking a 4 hour nap Saturday!!), we hit up the local farmers market, I repainted our bedroom furniture, cleaned the house from top to bottom, went on a great walk with a gf, and even broke out the Uggs. Yes, a little unnecessary but it was kind of chilly here on Friday night  so I jumped the gun ;)  I can not wait for fall!

Over sized button up, riding boots, leggings, scarf, neutral? Yes please!

2. We had the best time in Sonoma with our friends A and R. The wedding we attended ( a co-worker of hubs and R) was SO GORG! The sun setting over the vineyard, long barn tables, flowers, romantic touches and perfect weather. It was seriously out of this world. They looked amazing and anywhere that serves mini- sliders and fries during cocktail hour is A-ok by me! We had the best time partaking in one tooooo many vineyards, relaxing, eating and enjoying wine country for the weekend. We discovered a few new fav reds as well that are going to be household staples from now on! Super fun!

I of course didn't take any pictures which is sad but oh so typical. I think A took a few so I'll have to see what I can get my hands on.

3. I'm currently rocking " You don't know Jacque" by OPI and it makes me happy. It's my transition color into Fall. It's what I wore on our wedding day and is one of my alllll time favorites.

4. To further force Fall upon Southern California, I'm making this Southern Living Pumpkin Crisp to take to my JL Potluck Tuesday. I have been craving pumpkin like no ones business. That and boiled peanuts. But really, that thats another  story.

 annnnnd....
I think thats enough misc for one Monday!
Have a great week!

Blogging take 2!

For Top Two Tuesday, it's only appropriate I blog about the top TEN reasons I've been slacking 101.
Trust me, I have spent many a hour reading all my favorite blogs ( just ask my husband) but I've been very unmotivated to blog myself. I'm sure that happens to yall too right?

1. NEW DIGS, we moved again for the final time ( at least for this phase of our lives). I kid with J that I'm going to force all our babies to live in the guest room and the office in bunk beds because I never want to leave. We are loving the location, the beach view from the porch and the amazing scenery. Seriously, how gorgeous is the water here?

Crazy phone pic but can't complain that I can see the water while having a cocktail.

2. I'm Fancy Nancy head for The Junior League Christmas Company. That will make little or no sense to most of you lovelies but on November 20th, 600 little girls are coming to tea. The author of "Fance Nance" is coming to read. I need swag bags, tiaras, pearls, sparkly sunglasses food, actual tea,  china, etc ....yada yada. I'm exhausted :)

3. We've had some lovely visitors. EmB and in laws deserve our undivided attention right?

4. When the weekend does come, I normally want to sit on the beach with my super cute hubs and soak in the sun. It's a rough life around here I tell ya :)

5. I've had TONS of meetings. Some actual meetings for JL but mainly " meetings" with my gal pals. We've had our fair share of dinners, sangria nights and champagne cocktails. So much fun, so little time left to blog.

6.  Did I mention that I'm throwing a tea party for 600 little girls and their moms? Yeeeesh. In fact, I'm avoiding sending out donor letters right now. I need help. And someone to take away the Cupcake Chardonnay.

7. Too much TV? Design Star, Food Network Star, Million Dollar Decorators, Chopped, White Collar, Suits...the list goes on.

8. A little B-A-C-H planning for a little B-E-S-T friend of mine. In 2 short weeks I will be East bound to Dewey Beach Delaware for a seriously rocking bach party. Can't wait!

9. I've been attempting to get rid of the bags under my eyes by getting some serious sleep. I didn't get out of bed all day Sunday. Not like in a " I can't get out of bed way" just an " it's overcast, there's lots of great tv on kind of way". It. Was. Amazing.

10. No excuses, play like a champion. Blogging again starts......NOW.

PS. LOVE LOVE that my hubs just came into the living room. He told me that he debated telling me this but my dream bed is on craigslist for a great deal. The fact that he was A) looking for it and  B) Is considering getting  it/told me about it, means that I am one lucky/blessed gal.

Happy Week Yall!

Misc Monday!

Monday comes no matter what you do huh?

Well then, let's make the most of it shall we? I think a Misc. Monday is in order to start the week off right. I'm putting a little spin on it.
Some of my misc. makeup favs for summer.

When it's too hot for blush, bene tint is my favorite go to. It's a rosy cheek stain that is super light feeling and cheery to boot.
I've recently discovered Laura Mercier lip stains. Perfect for the lip color obsessed gals like myself. Plus, since you will rarely catch me without something on my lips, this stays put forever.

I've been wanting to try to Chanel Mimosa but was not feeling the price tag for such a trendy color. Thank you Rite Aid and your Sally Hanson Lightening. Definitely got my yellow fix.

I got a sample of the Bumble and Bumble Thickening Shampoo from Sephora on Friday. I'm not sure it thickened my hair but it smelled great and I had a pretty good hair night.

Once again, Laura Mercier to the rescue. Her tinted moisturizers are heaven. Plus, summer is not the time for full foundation. Just a little tint and your ready to roll.

I saved the BEST for last. I had read lots of great things about this mask so I finally tried it. They were not messing around!! This was unreal. After drying for about 20 minutes, I peeled it off and literally had a new face. I will never be without this again. Dramatic? Yes. Worth every penny? Absolutely.

I forgot to do this while it was cloudy on Saturday:( We sat and read at the beach all day. I should know better. Sunburn is not a good look for me.

Hope everyone has a great start to the week!

Let's Eat!

Happy Friday!

Happy Weekend!

I discovered this little gem this morning and just had to link up. Go check out the cuteness.

I'm posting the  I eat this entire thing myself   Peach and Gorgonzola Chicken Pizza via Cooking Light.
Yall, when I say this is weird yet amazing, take my word for it.
Why? Because I make this whole pizza, then pretend that I forgot my husband doesn't like it, and THEN proceed to eat it all in one, maybe two, sessions. A little rude? Maybe, but he does ok.  The man loves cereal for dinner. Who am I to get in the way of that?

I digress, here it is, in it's amazing glory.
Please make the salad and throw it on top.
 You'll thank me.

Ingredients

  • 1 (10-ounce) prebaked thin pizza crust (such as Boboli)
  • Cooking spray
  • 1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 cup (2 ounces) shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1 cup shredded cooked chicken breast
  • 1/3 cup (about 1 1/2 ounces) crumbled Gorgonzola cheese
  • 1 medium unpeeled peach, thinly sliced
  • 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar

Prep

1. Preheat oven to 400°.
2. Place pizza crust on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Brush 1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil evenly over crust. Top evenly with 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, chicken, Gorgonzola cheese, and peach slices. Top with remaining 1/4 cup mozzarella. Bake at 400° for 11 minutes or until crust browns.
3. Place vinegar in a small saucepan over medium-high heat; cook until reduced to 2 tablespoons (about 5 minutes). Drizzle balsamic reduction evenly over pizza. Cut pizza into 8 wedges.

Arugula Salad

Combine 1 teaspoon minced shallots, 2 teaspoons lemon juice, and ½ teaspoon honey in a large bowl; gradually whisk in 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil. Add 4 cups loosely packed arugula and 1/3 cup vertically sliced red onion to bowl; toss gently to coat. Yield: 4 servings.

Now that I've posted that, I need to make it for dinner. I hate when that happens.

On a side note: I do make my husband dinner on a nightly basis. I love to cook.  He does not live off of cereal alone. But he would be happy if I let him. I'm just saying.
